I am originally from Lima, Peru. I am the third of five children. During my teens I met a Catholic Movement called the Christian Life Movement and got involved with the Youth Ministry Program doing community service and having weekly meetings with a group of friends my age. When I was 20 years old, I discovered my vocation to consecrate my life to God as a lay woman in the Marian Community of Reconciliation. We are a community of consecrated lay women; we make promises of obedience and celibacy to be fully available for the evangelization. We have communities in Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Italy, England, Australia and in the US we are in Connecticut, Texas, Colorado and California.
In March 2010, I made my Perpetual Promises of Obedience and Celibacy in Denver. One of my favorite quotes is from Saint Paul “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ”. It reminds me of our call to holiness and to strive for holiness every day in the small tasks and give witness to Christ in the world so that our lives may call others to “aim high” as Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati said.
